I'm a marketing, strategy, and technology leader.
And I love being outside.

I grew up near Boston, went to school in Maine, met my wife in Colorado, went back to school in Seattle, and we now live in Boulder, Colorado with our seven year-old twins.

Over the last 15+ years I've led teams at the intersection of strategy, marketing, concept innovation, and experience design. I've worked for companies across industries from athletic footwear and apparel to consumer technology, quick service retail, e-commerce, management consulting, and more.

I've found that many of the most transformative business strategies sit at the intersection of existing consumer behavior, established competitive advantage, and emerging technology. I'm motivated to solve big, ambiguous, strategic problems that improve the lives of consumers and build value for businesses. And I enjoy doing that work when leading cross functional teams.

Currently, I help companies (Fortune 50, startups, and leading academic institutions) to better understand where and how to unlock sustainable growth. If that sounds like you, let's chat.

WORK

I've done cool work with great organizations.

INTERESTS

Outside of work.

Skiing

I started skiing young, I raced in college, and taught skiing in Vail and Aspen. Over the years my interests have evolved from ski racing in New England, to free-skiing in Colorado, to backcountry skiing in the PNW, to now skiing with my kids anywhere they'll join me.

Cycling

I grew up mountain biking in Massachusetts, mostly as a way to get around and as an excuse to cause trouble in the woods with my friends. I got more into road and gravel biking when I moved to the pacific northwest in 2012, and I'm pumped to have moved to the cycling mecca that is Boulder.

Gear obsessing

When I was 11, I started saving every penny I made and three years later I bought a Trek OCLV mountain bike. The obsession has only worsened since… and I love it when friends ask me what kind of new _____ they should buy.

Photography

I got a mirrorless camera when our kids were born. I wanted to learn to take good pictures and spend less time on my phone. The great camera has not yet made me a good photographer. But it's fun trying.

Being outside

I like being outside. As much as possible. I don't mind bad whether; sometimes it makes the experience better. My children do not yet agree, but we're working on it.

Design

My father and wife are both architects. Maybe that's why whether it's a house, furniture, a product, or a website, I love how great designers explore the relationship between form and function.

Type-2 Fun

The kind of fun (sport, adventure, etc) that includes some suffering while you're doing it, but feels amazing when you're done. E.g. the feeling you get when you take your ski boots off at the end of a big day.

Tinkering and/or building

I've always loved to make stuff. Whether working on bikes, home remodel projects, picture frames, plant stands, or just doing random ad hoc projects with the kids, I love any excuse to make or fix things. My most recent big project has been a sprinter van conversion.
